1. Mount Everest
This mountain is also
called 'Sagarmatha' in Nepali and it is called so because
sagarmatha means 'the Head of the Sky'. it is the highest peak in
the world that lies above the sea level and its elevation from sea level is
8,848 metres. it is situated in Solukhumbu District in Nepal. The mount everest
was first climbed in 1953 by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay
Sherpa.
2. Kanchanjunga
This is the third
highest mountain in the whole world and second highest in Nepal and situated in
Taplejung district. This mountain has unique features i.e. it consists of Five
Prominent Peaks and these five peaks are also called " the
five treasury of the snow". It's elevation from the sea level is
8,586 metres and this mountain was first climbed by Gorge Band ad Joe Brown.
3. Lhotse
This is the fourth
highest mountain in the world and third highest in Nepal itself. The name of
mountain is Lhotse means South Peaks and it's elevation
from the sea level is 8,516 metres. It is situated in the Khumbu region of
Nepal. This mountain was first climbed by Ernst Reiss and Fritz Lacgsinger from
Swiss. Lhotse face is often describes as "a wall of glacial blue
Ice".
4. Mount Makalu
It is the fifth highest
mountain in the world itself and fourth in Nepal. It is situated in the
Mahalangur Himalayas in South of Mount Everest. It's elevation is 8,485 metres
from the sea level. Makalu shape resemble Four-sided pyramid of snow
and ice. The mountain is named after the Hindu God Shive. It is also
considered as one of the most difficult mountains in the world to climb. the
mountain was first climbed by Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy.
5. Mount Cho Oyu
It is the sixth highest
mount in the world and fifth in Nepal and it's elevation is of 8,148 metres
above the sea level. The name of mountain is Cho Oyu which means
"Turquiose Goddess" in Tibetan. it is situated between China and
Nepal and it acts like natural borders between two countries. and
it is also referred as " the mighty heal of the
Goddess". This mountain was first climbed on 1954 by Joseph
Jochler, Herbet Tichley and Sherpa Palang Dawa Lama of an austrain expedition.
